Getting a better idea now

I've been doing a lot of reading the over last week or so about old Fords, Falcons, classic inline 6 motors and how to not break the bank and still have a solid weekend driver. I've decided to keeping the inline 6 that's in the car now, and just make some modifications to it. For the time being the engine will remain stock until the car can move to my place, where I'll be able to pull out the motor and do the rebuild.  With the motor out of the car, I'll be able to add the the modifications to the motor while I'm rebuilding it--kind of a kill 2 birds with one stone thing.

The plans I have for the build are modest,  even though its very possible to turn an inline 6 into a race motor, I'm looking for reliability, good MPG and a decent power gain. I'm using those guidlines to narrow down the mods;
-Header
-Intake manifold
-bigger carb
-ignition upgrade

The main reasoning for these specific mods are to allow the car to breath freely perform great. I'm going off a guy who has pretty much that same set up and hes able to get 200 HP, 180 Flbs, and get between 28-31 mpg.

I've started thinking of some non-engine mods, that I will also be doing. Both of them being safty and reliability mods;
-power break convertion
-convert the generator to an alternator

Ill also be looking into new wheels for the Falcon. Nothing fancy, just nice and simple mag wheels.
